Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Index

The illustration above is called a heat map. The heat map scores range from 0 to 10 and are based on the findings from the data source you selected. Each score indicates the level of a particular issue on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 and 10 represent polar opposites in relation to the indicator illustrated on the heat map. In other words, if the score is 0, the phenomena the indicator is measuring is not observed at all, and if the score is 10, the phenomena the indicator is measuring is prevalent and strong. Differences higher than 0.5 points are considered statistically significant. Each indicator is measured with multiple questionnaire items, which are then worked together to form a scale. You can find out more about how the scores are calculated under the methodology section.

Editorial notes

Path Analysis

The illustration below is called a path analysis. It is based on complex statistical analysis that includes regression and structural equation modeling. The color of the lines between the outcome and the indicators (i.e., the drivers of the outcome) point to the nature of the relationship. Pink lines indicate a negative relationship, where the indicators to the left inhibits or undermines the driver or the outcome on right. Blue lines indicate a positive relationship, where the indicators to the left improve or strengthen the driver or the outcome on the right. The path analysis should be read from left to right, in other words, the relationship is directional from the drivers on the left towards the drivers and the outcome to the right of the illustration.

Indicator Details

The sankey charts below illustrate the way an outcome is constructed by showing the indicators that make up the outcome. By moving the cursor over the indicators, you can read a description for each of them.

The visualization below allows for comparing different demographic groups such as gender and age.

      Explore Indicators

This visualization presents the score of each indicator of the currently selected dimension. The score of each indicator is the weighted mean of its sub-indicators.

      Indicator Correlations

This visualization presents the relationships between the indicators of the currently selected dimension. The number of the arrows represent how strongly correlated the different indicators are on a scale from 0 (not at all) to 1 (totally). The closer the number is to 1 the more highly correlated two indicators are.
